Hi ,

This time of year, a lot of people set big goals and then run into something uncomfortable: a gap between how much they want it and how consistently they act on it.

Today I want to help you figure out why that gap exists.

Think back to the last goal you quit. Maybe it was fitness. A career move. A creative project. A relationship commitment. Why did you quit?

Most of us say things like:

  • “I got too busy.”

  • “Life got in the way.”

  • “I lost motivation.”

  • “It was harder than I thought.”

But here’s what I’ve learned while researching Beyond Belief: Those are usually the cover stories. The real reason is often simpler (and more fixable): you stopped believing your effort would matter.

Most people treat past failures as embarrassing mistakes to forget about. But your quits aren’t random. They follow patterns, and those patterns reveal the beliefs running in the background.

Here’s a quick exercise to uncover those patterns:

List 3–5 goals you’ve quit in the past few years. For each one, write:

  1. What was the goal? (Be specific.)

  2. How long did you work on it before quitting?

  3. What was happening when you quit? (What triggered it?)

  4. What did you tell yourself when you quit (your justification)?

Now look for the pattern. Do you tend to quit right after the initial excitement wears off? As soon as you hit the first obstacle? When progress slows down? Right before you’re about to succeed?

Patterns point to beliefs. In Beyond Belief, I use a simple framework I call the Motivation Triangle:

  1. Behavior: what you need to do

  2. Benefit: what you’ll get from doing it

  3. Belief: your conviction that the behavior will lead to the benefit

Most people don’t quit because they don’t know what to do (behavior) or because they don’t want the outcome (benefit). They quit because their belief collapses.

If you can identify the belief that collapses first for you, you can finally stop repeating the same New Year cycle.

If you want to go deeper—and experience this work with me live—I’m doing something I’ve never done before: running an exclusive, author-led book club

Here’s how it works:

  • You get early access to the book in 3 parts (Part 1 in Jan, Part 2 in Feb, Part 3 in Mar)

  • 3 live book club sessions (third week of Jan / Feb / Mar) for discussion + Q&A

  • You’ll come prepared with questions, what resonated, what didn’t, and what you’re trying to change in your own life

More details on how to join are provided below. To keep the vibe intimate, we’re capping the group size, so not everyone will be accepted. Sorry 😕

And whether or not you’re selected for the book club, everyone who preorders also gets these bonuses:
